Chris Kurby received his Ph.D. from Northern Illinois University in 2006 under the supervision of his advisors Drs. Joseph Magliano and Katja Wiemer-Hastings. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Danielle McNamara and is working on the iSTART project. His interests are both applied and basic. His applied interests, broadly defined, involve teaching students how to become active readers and how to comprehend argument claims. With respect to his basic research interests, he investigates the contribution of perceptual representations in language comprehension and knowledge representation.
