AutoTutor - AutoTutor is a web-based computer tutor architecture that simulates the dialog moves of effective human tutors.

Advanced Learning Technology Laboratory - A lab is being developed to build new web-based learning technologies.

Biologically Motivated Computing - This research explores genetic algorithms, neural networks, and artificial immune systems. Some of these systems are used to detect software viruses and various anomalies in data.

CircSysWeb: a web-based research tool and learning environment to study and foster students’ self-regulated learning about the circulatory system

Coh-Metrix - Using advanced technologies, Coh-Metrix will allow readers, writers, educators, and researchers to instantly gauge the difficulty of written material, based on the target audience.

Cognitive Learning Lab - The iDrive (Instruction in Deep-level Reasoning questions In Vicarious Environments) project investigates the role of deep-level reasoning questions in learning. The project first replicated the deep-level reasoning questions effect, demonstrated in college students, at the middle and high school levels in the domains of computer literacy and conceptual physics. Our reasoning questions outperform those in various controls, such as videos involving shallow questions and videos involving the same content, with questions omitted.

Computational Neurodynamics - Adaptive dynamical memories are needed in biological systems so it is important to track them in computational models. Problem solving and search tasks are improved with these adaptive systems.

Computational modeling of attention-driven visual recognition - In this project, our primary goal is to develop a computational model of an attention driven visual recognition system for intelligent image retrieval.

Developing Effective Strategies and Performance Metrics for Automatic Target Recognition - The main objective of this project is to develop a highly efficient automatic target recognition (ATR) system by exploiting model based image processing and neural networks.

Eyetracking - Recent developments in technology have allowed researchers to measure and monitor the locations of eye-movements. This information can help to improve the design of textbooks, learning environments, advertising, and other artifacts.

Figurative Language in Persuasive Recruiting - Nonliteral language has the potential to have a persuasive impact on material for Navy recruiting.

GenoSAP - A navy-funded project to explore the possibility of using genetic algorithms to solve complex assignment problems.

HURAA - HURAA is an interactive, web-based information delivery and retrieval system that is designed to help users learn the U.S. federal policies and regulations that pertain to using human subjects in research.

IDA - IDA (Intelligent Distribution Agent) is an intelligent software agent developed for personnel work for the US Navy. The IDA technology is the basis for a functional integrative model of human and animal cognition that produces hypotheses which can guide the research of cognitive scientists and neuroscientists.

iSTART - iSTART (Interactive Strategy Trainer for Active Reading and Thinking) is an automated strategy trainer designed to help students become better readers via multi-media technologies.

Language in Spatial Environments - Language and cognitive representations in simulated microworlds are investigated.

MetaTutor - an interdisciplinary project involving the design, development, and evaluation of a web-based intelligent adaptive hypermedia system to (1) model key self-regulatory processes to foster students’ understanding of science and (2) to provide adaptive scaffolding during learning about complex science topics.

Multimodal Communication - Tracking multimodal communication in humans and intelligent MapTask agents.

Multiresolution wavelet-fractal analysis of tumor detection - To develop an innovative approach which exploits the excellent feature localization property of multiresolution wavelet and fractal nature of abnormal lesions in fractional Brownian motion (fBm) framework that will provide a promising direction for tumor and hard-to-detect abnormalities identification in brain MR images.

Video Image Segmentation, Tracking and Modeling - The objective of the project is to segment, detect, track and model an object or multiple objects in video images using a Hidden Markov Model (HMM).

QUAID -  UAID, (Question Understanding Aid) is a software program designed to assist survey methodologists, social scientists, and designers of questionnaires in improving the wording, syntax, and semantics of questions.
